What is the Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid exists naturally in our bodies and especially in our skin – with a percentage of 56% - and it is essential in order to look more vibrant and youthful. Over the years, our natural production of hyaluronic acid decreases resulting to the formation of wrinkles, reduction of lip volume and the look of a tired and sad face.
What are hyaluronic acid implants?
It is the safest and painless wrinkle recovery treatment performed in the most natural way.
Hyaluronic acid is a crystalline transparent gel which is injected into the skin.
The gel is tissue-friendly, with a high resemblance to the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in our body.
It effectively reduces the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, keeps the facial contours, offers volume and rejuvenates the skin.
Which hyaluronic acid is used at the clinic?
This is a question that should be asked by all of the patients in order to be assured of their safety, the duration and the physical appearance of the result.
The hyaluronic acid that we use at the clinic is mainly the Restylane® of Swedish origin. It is the most advanced proposal of the scientific community in the implant field, as it does not contain animal substances and toxins and therefore there is no risk of allergic reactions.
It is fully absorbed by the body without leaving any remainders. The Restylane® is the best scientifically proved hyaluronic acid product in the world based on extensive studies which demonstrate its safety and effectiveness. The Restylane® has been used in over 15 million treatments worldwide over the last 12 years.
We also use other official hyaluronic acids companies, like Juviderm products.
Is the treatment painful?
The treatment is painless but there is a possibility of anesthetic cream application to the area, 30 minutes prior to application. Especially, the Swedish company’s Restylane® hyaluronic acid, as well as the Juviderm products, are specially elaborated with lidocaine, making the treatment completely painless.
Duration of the treatment and outcome
The treatment takes just 30 minutes and the patient can return to work immediately. The effect of a single treatment appears immediately and lasts for more than a year.
To which areas can it be applied on?
Hyaluronic acid can be used for the smoothing of fine lines and facial wrinkles, the creation of more intense lips, for the reformation of the facial contour, volume increase to the cheekbones and chin, as well as for skin rejuvenation.
Are there any side effects after the treatment?
Given the fact that it is an injectable treatment, there is always the risk of very mild bruising and mild edema. In this case your doctor prescribes a cream for rapid absorption thereof.
The result with the use of hyaluronic acid is perfectly natural and nobody is going to notice what you have done. Your face will be fresher, rested and healthy.
What are the Restylane® microcannulas?
Instead of using a needle, Restylane® gives us the ability to use for this treatment special RESTYLANE Pix'L Microcannulas. With the microcannulas, the application of the hyaluronic acid is atraumatic, across the face and lips, due to the elasticity and the blunt edge in contrast to the needles.
In this way, the risk of bruising and occurrence of edema is reduced and the result is much more uniform than the traditional method of needle pricking. This is because under each needle prick a "small ball" is created, so a strong massage is needed in order to get a uniform effect, while the microcannoula creates a uniform line under the wrinkle.
It can be done on any area, even in areas with many vessels (like the eyes, forehead, temporal region, lips), which would otherwise should be avoided due to the high risk for creating bruises.
